College of Naturopaths of Ontario

The College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CNO) is the governing body for naturopathy in Ontario. The Office of the Fairness Commissioner (OFC) oversees the registration practices of the college to ensure that they are transparent, objective, impartial and fair for anyone who wants to practise as a naturopath in this province.

The CNO is a new regulatory body. It was established by the Naturopathy Act in 2007 and is represented by its transitional council. In 2008, OFC staff provided the registrar of the college's transitional council with an overview of the OFC's work and the requirements for compliance with the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991, as amended, that the CNO will eventually have to meet. The transitional council is currently developing regulations and setting standards of practice that will enable it to be fully operational.

The OFC will work closely with the transitional council of the College of Naturopaths of Ontario.

The current regulator uses the following outside organization/s to assess the qualifications of its applicants:

The College of Naturopaths of Ontario falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

The OFC does not assess credentials, handle complaints or intervene in particular cases. Our mandate is one of systemic change. Please contact the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapy - Naturopathy for further information about your ability to practise as a naturopath in Ontario.
