Reviews of Registration Practices

The Fairness Commissioner encourages regulatory bodies to periodically review their registration requirements and processes, to root out practices that may not be fair.

Entry-to-practice reviews are an excellent opportunity for them to probe the relevance and necessity of their requirements. Reviews are also an integral part of OFC activity to promote continuous improvement.

What is a review?

A registration practices review is a regulatory body’s examination of the registration-related aspects of its governing statute, regulations, bylaws, standards, guidelines, policies and procedures

The purpose of the review is to ensure that registration practices are transparent, objective, impartial and fair.

The review includes analysis of:

  • The need for and relevance of all licensing requirements
  • The efficiency and timeliness of decision-making
  • The reasonableness of fees.
